What Patients Say

I am absolutely overjoyed to say I am writing this with my right hand! I cannot begin to express my gratitude because words will do no justice. You have been such an amazing doctor every step of the way. You have been nothing but kind, gentle and informative. I cannot thank you enough for not only fixing my arm, but also for doing it with the utmost care and compassion. If in the future I ever fracture another body part, I won’t even sweat it. After all, I have the BEST doctor in the galaxy.

There sincerely isn’t a single day that at some one or several points I don’t think of you and thank you for having my hand back. I love my hands and I love to use them a lot. You gave me so many gifts and I wanted you to know that’s so special. See it’s not over you’re a part of my hand forever. My heart is full thank you and take good care of yourself. Loving regards

Dr. Raven is fantastic!

I was referred to Dr. Raven after suffering a severely fractured wrist in a motorcycle accident. Because of the severity of bone loss, I had to have two different surgeries, both of which were done by Dr. Raven. Before having the second surgery, I got a second opinion from another surgeon (Dr. Raven encouraged me to do this), and, was extremely impressed with Dr. Raven’s work, saying it was pretty much a miracle what he was able to do, given how bad the initial injury had been. Throughout the entire six month process of recovery, Dr. Raven was always available when I had questions and always patient and very positive. Never before have I had a Doctor whom I could e-mail with a question or concern and have a response within 10 minutes – every time. He always went out of his way for us. If you need an Orthopedic Surgeon, I can’t recommend Dr. Raven highly enough. Kudos to the entire staff at OSS as well, including Rebekka and Armen. Great people

I had a great experience with Dr. Raven. He removed a ganglion cyst in my wrist and did an amazing job. He took the time to explain to me the procedure, and paid attention to my wishes and concerns. He personally called after the surgery to make sure I was doing well and I had great follow up appointments post-op. Like many doctors, he is indeed very busy and doesn’t have much time, but he seemed to be caring and did the best with the time we had. My recovery was really fast, and I have now a clean and minimal scar. And his office staff is very friendly! I am definitely recommending him to anyone who would need this type of service.

Dr. Raven is awesome! I had a complicated injury where I tore the ligaments and tendons in my right middle finger. I need 2 surgeries to repair the damage, with therapy after both each surgeries. I am so grateful to Dr. Raven that I can use my finger and grip a knife, since I’m a Chef. He has a great bed side manner, and I really believe he cared about my welfare. He always responded quickly when I emailed him. The staff at his office is great too. Super friendly and accommodating.

He did such a great JOB my hand has recovered and doing much .. Thanks to him my hand was saved and I went back to work the best part of this he was my life saver… Thank you Dr Raven for saving me from loosing my hand.. Dr. Raven was a young doctor with an impressive list of credentials and knowledge in hand surgery (elbows, wrist, hand)

Dr. Raven saved my finger after it was nearly decapitated from a dog bite. Not only is he an excellent surgeon who is continually educating himself and others in his field, he is a kind and patient person. No matter what questions I have I can e-mail him and he responds incredibly quickly. He’s a cool guy and I highly recommend him.

I don’t have interactions with any of the doctors here (four in all) except for orthopedic surgeon Dr. Raymond Raven. Dr. Raven came highly recommended by my general physician when it was determined that my left hand was in need for ligament reattachment surgery. I was given Dr. Raven‘s name, address, contact number, and the OSS website to look at prior to my first visit. Dr. Raven was a young doctor with an impressive list of credentials and knowledge in hand surgery (elbows, wrist, and hand). His specialty is in sports medicine and has a slew of famous athletes as his clients. If he can tend and fix a pro hockey player, he can fix me! Dr. Raven is one of the top orthopedic surgeons in California (check out his credentials). He’s very kind and was able to rebuild my tattered left hand after a serious hockey accident. In fact I believe my left hand is bionic; good as new with minimal scarring (if any). Barely a scratch and quick recovery was ideal especially when I was anxious to get back to life.

I was really worried about my basal thumb arthritis which had been diagnosed by a physician I had known many years. As I am a dental hygienist, I need full strength and flexibility in the use of my hand. I was concerned about the necessary surgery. I wanted a second opinion and was referred to Dr. Raven by a friend who had the same procedure. What struck me at first about Dr. Raven was his exceptional capacity to listen and to think aloud as he made his diagnosis and his recommendations.

His expertise and his thoughtful ways of talking about my condition and the surgical procedure evoked high trust in me and in my husband who accompanied me to my appointments. I decided that even though his office is far out of my geographical area that it would be my wisest choice to have Dr. Raven do my surgery. Dr. Raven is so very responsive to questions or concerns that I sent him through email. He would respond very quickly to explain, reassure, or ask me to come in for him to have a look whenever I expressed a concern. I have to say that I have never met a more attuned and thoughtful physician. I have felt cared for by he and his staff from diagnosis, to surgery and through aftercare. He has taken extra time to communicate with my hand therapist so that her work with me is most effective. My hand is healing very well and I can already tell full function will be restored. Dr. Raven is a great physician in every way.

Dr. Raven repaired severed tendons in my fingers a little over a year ago. I had cut them pretty bad and with surgery he was able to reattach both of the tendons. It was an extremely long healing process but with the help of both Dr. Raven and my physical therapist, Robert Dorer, I was able to regain use of my right hand. Dr. Raven is not only amazing at what he does but he is the kindest doctor I have ever had the pleasure of working with. I had consultations with three separate surgeons in regards to my hand and Dr. Raven was without a doubt my top choice. His level of skill is incredible and he truly cares about his patients. He is also among the top orthopedic surgeons in California. He will take the time to address any questions or concerns you might have, and if you email him he will personally respond to you. I highly recommend Dr. Raven to anyone and everyone who is in need of an orthopedic surgeon. I have recommended him to three separate people–one of which required surgery. They all thought he was a wonderful doctor and thanked me for the referral. Definitely go see him if you need to, you will not be disappointed!

Best ortho! I disclocated my thumb and torn a ligament from biking accident. Dr. Raven fixed it and I have full function like nothing happened! Thanks!

Dr. Raven is the BOMB! My Basil Left Thumb Joint Reconstructive surgery on 02.20.2012 is doing absolutely FANTASTIC! I have had over 9 surgeries in my life and all have been very successful and I have always chose older surgeons and I was very leery/skeptical of Raven’s youthfulness however after meeting Raven I had the strongest gut-feeling he was the one to repair me. Man was I right! What an excellent surgeon. I’ve already recommended him to three people! The physical therapist was very surprised at my accelerated recovery. Hey doc, you’ll be very surprised at my 04.17.2012 appt, but I do work on my thumb 2-3 hours every day. Thanks dude so very much, you’re the BOMB!

Dr. Raymond Raven is a most AMAZING surgeon. I am a massage therapist who suffered an accident that left my right forearm in 9 pieces. Thanks to his skill I was back massaging in 3 months! I am back to doing 7-8 massages a day with no problem, and i know it is because of his work.

He was always available to answer my many questions and is truly what one looks for in a caring, dedicated doctor. I will always be grateful to him and his wonderful staff whose warm, caring demeanor made a terrible situation much easier.

Dr. Raven saved my race for me. Three weeks before my Ironman race he took me out of the cast the ER had just put on for a fractured elbow and sent me off to physical therapy. I was able to finish my ironman thanks to his forward thinking and the shot he offered me several days before the race to reduce swelling. He worked with me every step of the way and was quick to respond to any questions I sent through emails. I couldn’t have done it without him and I was glad to have found him. His bedside man is warm and welcoming and if I ever need an orthopedic surgeon (hopefully I don’t) I wouldn’t hesitate to see him again.

Dear Dr. Raven,

I cannot begin to thank you enough for everything you’ve done for me. I am truly touched by your generosity and I am so grateful to have you as my doctor. A million thank you’s.

D.G.

Dear Dr. Raven,

After many years of playing musical instruments and working as a flooring contractor, my right hand apparently had had enough. When I put my hand to my ear and moved it, it sounded as if I was walking on gravel. I went to my internist who gave me a cortisone shot. After several years of a debilitating arthritic hand, my internist sent me to Dr. Raven.

At first, Dr. Raven tried conservative measures – more cortisone at the precise location; then I went to a hand therapist who made a splint to wear in the evenings. Those measures failed to relieve the pain and usefulness of my right hand. At this point, Dr. Raven suggested surgery. At first I balked; but then after a month or so, I acquiesced after realizing that I needed a change in my hand’s behavior. Therefore, on April 25th, 2007, I went in for surgery. Dr. Raven, his staff and the hospital were great. After four or five months, I had marked improvement; and after seven months my strength is returning and pain is nonexistent. Dr. Raven is a dedicated and very personable surgeon who answered every question I had. He also made excellent incisions. I am very happy with the outcome of the surgery.

Dear Dr. Raven,

Dr. Raven, Thank you very much for accommodating my surgery so quickly and for being so friendly, kind and comforting. I really appreciate the personal attention you have given me. I look forward to a speedy recovery with much success.

Dear Dr. Raven,

Just wanted to write a note, to say thanks again for all that you did for me. I’m still riding bikes, and more importantly, working on them. That is what I love doing…Just so you know; I wrote this with my right hand.!

T.H.

Dear Dr. Raven,

I never got the time to send you a note to let you know what a wonderful hand surgeon you are! The last two cortisone injections were not as painful as I had anticipated! My hand is feeling much better already! Thank you so much for your great expertise and quickness…. You are great!

Sincerely,
K.C.

Dear Dr. Raven,

I know you don’t remember me, but I was a patient of yours almost three years ago. I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate everything you did for me and that I think of you often. Not only did I have an excellent surgeon, but I’ll never forget how kind and generous you were.

I was homeless at the time with no insurance. I was embarrassed because I knew that I couldn’t pay anything and you told me that my getting well was payment enough. And when you found out that the paramedics who brought me had cut off of me the only pair of pants I owed, you brought me a very generous gift card so that I could buy some clothes when I got out of the hospital. I just wanted to tell you thanks again for everything!

Sincerely,
J.L.

Dear Dr. Raven,

Just a small token of thanks for an amazing man whose skill as a surgeon is matched by his heart. With many thanks from my wife Samantha and I for giving me a new lease on life. Wishing you many blessings now and in the years to come.

Sincerely,
J.B.

Dear Dr. Raven,

Thank you so much for being so sweet and helpful and for taking the time with me. I hope you realize what a difference you made.

You were (FINALLY!) a positive in weeks of negative and I’m so glad I met you. Don’t ever change the way you relate to your patients. You’re the best!

Sincerely,
K.B.

Dear Dr. Raven,

I cannot express to you enough how grateful I am that you are my fathers Doctor for his hip fracture! You are sharp, well-spoken, clear-eyed, and have the most positive demeanor, and we are so fortunate to have you! I hope you have a beautiful holiday season, and wishes of all the finest to you and your in the new year and always.

Sincerely,
S.H.

Dear Dr. Raven,

Hey there! I just came across you card and thought to drop you a note. Its been three years since you treated me for a broken wrist and one would never known it had ever happened. During the time of the accident, money was tight and you helped me out.

I want you to know I still think of you and your generosity. It will never be forgotten. Your talent and your heart is what sets you at the top of your field.

Sincerely,
K.D.

Dear Dr. Raven,

Dear Dr. Raven, After Seeing you yesterday for his follow-up, my son said he thinks he¹d like to be a doctor that helps kids with broken bones. Thank you not only for the great medical care, but for being an inspiration!

Sincerely,
S.D.

Dear Dr. Raven,

The care I received from you and your staff was excellent.  Because of you, I can still perform my work duties and maintain employment.  I can also continue to preserve my love of music and play the bass guitar.  You inspired me to heal, recover, and get on with my life.  For that, I thank you.

Sincerely,
A.S.

Dear Dr. Raven,

It was one year ago tomorrow that you reconstructed, picked bone shards, and watched arteries beating away-hay!  What else did you have to do that morning anyway?  I always do everything I can to make sure those around me have something to keep them occupied and amused.  Thanks again-just wanted you to know I appreciate all your skill, craft, and hard work on my behalf.

Sincerely,
A.D.
